Dungeness Crab
Dungeness Crab are one of the best Crabs you will every eat. They are plentiful off the Oregon coast and if you are lucky enough to hit the conditions right you can be soaking crab pots while fishing for Salmon.
Currently each fisherman can harvest 13 male crabs per day, which is a boat load of crab. They are caught using crab traps or pots that have bait in them and are left to “soak” for a number of hours.
Dungeness Crab can be prepared and served many different ways. You will always start by boiling and then cleaning the crab. This cooked meat is then separated from the shell and can be eaten as is warm or cold, put on a salad, made into crab cakes or just plain with your favorite sauce.
